Tigers Stay Alive at ITA National Championships

 

Mobile, Alabama - Trinity women's tennis players Alicia Hunt and Laura Steinmetz continue to advance deep in the singles and doubles competition at the ITA National Small College Championships on Thursday.

Hunt and Steinmetz upset top seeds Christina Contrafatto and Jackie Shtemberg of the College of New Jersey 3-6, 6-1, 10-7 in the quarterfinals on Thursday, then played again later in the day against a doubles team from Gustavus Adolphus.  The Tiger duo won 6-2, 6-2 over Jenni White and Sierra Krebsbach to move on to the doubles championship match.

Hunt also continued Trinity's winning ways by defeating Emory's Sabra Rogers 6-2, 6-3 in the singles quarterfinals.  She will meet top seed Siobhan Finicane of Pomona-Pitzer on Friday for the chance to play in the singles final.

Hunt and Finicane will also meet in the doubles draw, joining Trinity's Steinmetz and Pomona's Olivia Muesse in the doubles final.

The winners of the singles and doubles competitions will advance to the "Super Bowl" to take on winners from Division II, NAIA, and junior college schools.
