Poettcker Advances to Main Draw,
but Loses Opening Singles Match
Trinity women's tennis
player Katy Poettcker won the play-in match to
advance to the main draw of the ITA National
Small College Championships, but lost in the
opening round to Laura Chen of Carnegie Mellon.
Poettcker and Thavindra Ekanayake also lost in
the doubles play-in round, as did men's tennis
singles player Erick DelaFuente.

Trinity Wins Singles and Doubles
Championships at ITA Regionals
The Tiger women's tennis
team won both the singles and doubles
championships in the ITA Regional tournament,
hosted by Trinity this weekend. Katy
Poettcker defeated teammate Thavindra Ekanayake
for the singles title, while the pair teamed up
to win the doubles crown.

III Women’s Southwest Region Championships will

Day of ITA Regionals on Friday
Eight members of the Trinity University Tigers
women’s tennis team advanced Friday to the round
of 16 singles of the Intercollegiate Tennis
Association Southwest Region Championships.
The Tigers also had three doubles teams make it
to the quarterfinals.

Sophomore Max Frey and
first-player Erick Delafuente advanced to the
men’s Flight 1 doubles final Saturday at Delavan
Tennis Stadium at the Trinity Quad Meet.
Sophomore Melissa Ponder and first-year Arianna
Rose are in the women’s Flight 2 doubles final.
Singles semifinals begin at 8 a.m. at Delavan.

This weekend’s
Trinity SCAC tennis matches have been canceled
because of weather damage at the Austin College
facilities. The Tigers were scheduled to
play Colorado College today, and Southwestern
University and host Austin College on Saturday.
Instead, weather conditions permitting, the
Tiger men and women will play Southwestern at
1:00 p.m. today in Georgetown, Texas.
