Trinity's women's tennis team lost a battle of top five teams on
Friday in California, falling to Claremont College 6-3.
Trinity (7-6) was previously
unbeaten against Division III teams this season, winning its first
five contests prior to this weekend's action. The Tigers,
ranked fifth in the nation, won one doubles match and two singles
matches against fourth-ranked Claremont.
Alicia Hunt and Lauren
Trapani both earned three-set wins in singles play, and both bounced
back after losing the opening set. Hunt won her fifth straight
singles match and improved to 7-1 at No. 2 singles this season.
Trapani won her seventh overall singles match of the year.
Trinity will face No. 14
Pomona-Pitzer tomorrow to continue this three-match weekend road
trip in California. The weekend concludes with a Sunday
matchup with 16th-ranked Redlands.
