Trinity Downed by Claremont Friday

Claremont, California - Trinity's women's tennis team lost a battle of top five teams on Friday in California, falling to Claremont College 6-3.

Trinity (7-6) was previously unbeaten against Division III teams this season, winning its first five contests prior to this weekend's action.  The Tigers, ranked fifth in the nation, won one doubles match and two singles matches against fourth-ranked Claremont.

Alicia Hunt and Lauren Trapani both earned three-set wins in singles play, and both bounced back after losing the opening set.  Hunt won her fifth straight singles match and improved to 7-1 at No. 2 singles this season.  Trapani won her seventh overall singles match of the year.

Trinity will face No. 14 Pomona-Pitzer tomorrow to continue this three-match weekend road trip in California.  The weekend concludes with a Sunday matchup with 16th-ranked Redlands.
