Tigers Fall to Emory During Fab Five Tournament

 

San Antonio - Trinity's women's tennis team continues its part in the Fab Five Women's Tennis Tournament with a 6-3 loss to Emory University on Saturday afternoon.

Trinity (8-10), which is ranked 19th in Division III according to the latest national poll, split the singles matches with Emory.  The Eagles, ranked second nationally, had won all three doubles matches to start off the match.

Hayley Dittus rebounded from an opening-set loss to take the singles win at the No. 1 position.  Krista Melish and Melissa Weinnig also won singles matches at the No. 4 and No. 5 spots.  Both Melish and Weinnig recorded straight-set wins.

Melish improves to 10-7 in singles play, while Weinnig now stands 8-5 overall this season.  Dittus secured her ninth win this season and the 41st of her career.

Trinity will take on Washington & Lee University, newly ranked No. 1 in the nation.  Washington & Lee lost to fifth-ranked Williams College 5-4 in other action today.
