Trinity's women's tennis team won its fourth straight match on
Saturday afternoon, defeating Hardin-Simmons University 8-1 to wrap
up the regular season schedule.
Trinity (12-12) will travel
to Waco, Texas, next weekend to open play at the Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference Championships. The Tigers will enter the
tournament as the No. 3 seed.
The Tigers won five of the
six singles matches after sweeping all three doubles competitions.
Hayley Dittus lost a tough 7-5, 6-7, 6-7 match at No. 1 singles for
the only point given away by Trinity.
Krista Melish won 6-2, 6-1
for her team-best 14th win in singles this season, while Alicia Hunt
and Lauren Trapani each earned singles victory number 12
individually. Hunt improved to 10-4 at No. 2 singles this
year.
Dittus and Melish teamed up
for a win at No. 1 doubles, improving to 7-4 at the top position in
the lineup. The team also leads Trinity with eight doubles
wins this season.
