San Antonio -
Trinity's women's tennis team earned its third straight victory on
Tuesday afternoon, defeating Kenyon College 6-3 at Delavan Tennis
Stadium.
Trinity (7-5) took two out
of three doubles matches, then proceeded to win four of the six
singles matchups. With the Tigers leading 4-3 overall,
sophomore Melissa Weinnig clinched the match with a win at No. 6
singles. Weinning was trailing 1-5 in the first set, but came
back to win 7-6 (4), followed by a 7-5 win in the second.
Hayley Dittus came back in
her No. 1 singles match 1-6, 6-2, 6-4 to secure her 40th career
singles victory. Overall, Dittus is 40-23 in singles in her
career (in team play). She also teamed with first-year Krista
Melish to win at No. 2 doubles by a final of 8-2.
Alicia Hunt, who currently
has 41 career victories in singles play, also won both her singles
and doubles matches against Kenyon. Hunt won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2
singles, and she teamed with Renae Wright to win 8-4 at No. 1
doubles.
Trinity will travel to
California for its next matches, played March 23-25 against
Claremont, Pomona, and Redlands.
