Trinity's women's tennis team, ranked fifth in the nation in
Division III, dropped a pair of inter-divisional matches at the Lee
College Spring Four Way on Saturday afternoon.
Trinity (0-3) lost to
hosting Lee College 1-8, as well as dropping a 3-6 match to Tarleton
State University. Lee is ranked second in the National Junior
College Athletic Association poll, while Tarleton is 30th in
Division II's latest rankings.
In the opening match against
Tarleton, Hayley Dittus won her singles match 6-0, 7-6, and then
teamed up with first-year Krista Melish to win No. 1 doubles 8-4.
Lauren Trapani also won a point for the Tigers, scoring a 6-4, 6-1
victory at No. 5 singles.
Alicia Hunt and Renae Wright
scored Trinity's only victory in the Lee College match, winning 8-4
at No. 2 doubles.
The Tigers will travel to
St. Edward's University next Friday, followed by the team's home
opener on Saturday, February 10, at 9:30 a.m. The team will
then square off against Laredo Community College later that
afternoon.
