Trinity Defeats Rhodes to Earn Third in SCAC

 

Waco, Texas - Trinity's women's tennis team defeated Rhodes College 7-2 in the SCAC Championships Third/Fourth Place Match on Sunday morning.

Trinity (14-13) won two out of three doubles matches, then took five out of six singles matches to earn the overall team victory.

Hayley Dittus and Krista Melish won at No. 1 doubles, then won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles, respectively.  The pair won 8-2 in doubles and both took three-set wins in singles.  Dittus won 2-6, 6-4, 6-0, while Melish won 1-6, 6-2, 6-2.

Alicia Hunt and Heather Naeher also won in doubles, though neither played in the singles lineup today.  Melissa Weinnig, Lauren Trapani, and Renae Wright all took straight-set singles victories for the Tigers.

Trinity will await word on singles and doubles selections for the NCAA Championships.
