San Antonio -
Trinity's women's tennis team swept a pair of matches against St.
Mary's University and the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor on
Saturday at Delavan Tennis Stadium.
Trinity (4-4) won 9-0 in
both matches, pulling its season record even with a fourth straight
victory. The Tigers are 2-0 against Division III teams this
year, having faced schools from numerous divisions or
classifications.
The Tigers have been led by
senior All-American Hayley Dittus, who improved to 6-1 in singles
with a pair of victories today. The team seems to have found a
winning doubles combination in Dittus and first-year Krista Melish
as well. Dittus and Melish are now 5-2 in doubles together,
and have also won four straight matches. The pair are also the
only players to have played together in more than three matches this
season.
Melish and Alicia Hunt both
won 6-0, 6-0 in singles matches against UMHB, while Heather Naeher
did the same at No. 6 singles against St. Mary's.
Trinity will have next week
off before traveling to San Marcos, Texas to take on Texas State on
Friday, March 2. The team will then return home to face a pair
of American Southwest Conference teams in UT-Tyler and Schreiner
University on March 3.
