Trinity's women's tennis team was unable to score its first win of
the year on Friday afternoon, as St. Edward's University recorded an
8-1 win over the Tigers.
Trinity (0-4), which is
ranked fourth in Division III, had just one individual match win
over Division II's 23rd-ranked team in St. Edward's. Hayley
Dittus won in straight sets at No. 2 singles over Regina Del Bosque.
Trinity's Cayleigh Simpson
and Melissa Weinnig lost a 7-9 match at No. 3 doubles, while Krista
Melish lost in three sets 2-6, 6-3, 4-6.
The Tiger men also lost to
St. Edward's Friday, which is ranked ninth in Division II. The
men's team did manage a win in both singles and doubles in the 7-2
loss.
The Tigers open their home
schedule tomorrow against Texas Lutheran and Laredo Community
College. Laredo is ranked 17th in the NJCAA poll.
