Trinity Defeats Southwestern to Open Saturday

 

San Antonio - Trinity's women's tennis team handed Southwestern University an 8-1 defeat to open up a full slate of action at Delavan Tennis Stadium on Saturday.

Trinity (10-12) will face off against Austin College later this afternoon, with the Tigers looking for their first three-game winning streak since early March.

The Tigers won all six singles matches, falling only at No. 1 doubles.  Alicia Hunt earned a win at No. 1 singles and also at No. 2 doubles with Heather Naeher. 

Cayleigh Simpson and Krista Melish also won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.  Simpson improved to 1-1 at the second position, while Melish is now 2-3 at No. 3 and 12-9 overall this season.

Melissa Weinnig, Lauren Trapani, and Kristen Kornegay all earned singles victories as well.  Jennifer Taylor teamed with Melish for a win at No. 3 doubles.  Kornegay's win in singles was her first singles match of the season.
