Tigers Fall in Season Opener Friday

 

Baytown, Texas - Trinity's women's tennis team lost a 1-6 decision to the University of Houston at the Lee College Spring Four Way on Friday evening.

Trinity (0-1) won just one match against Houston, and the Cougars won all three doubles matches to secure the doubles point.

All-American Cayleigh Simpson won in straight sets at No. 4 singles for Trinity's only point.  Simpson won 6-2, 6-3 in her singles match, and she teamed with Renae Wright at No. 1 doubles.  Wright and Simpson fell 1-8 in doubles against Loli Gomez and Leila Salek.

Alicia Hunt and Hayley Dittus fell just short against Rebecca Franzi and Sonja Nikolic at No. 2 doubles, losing 6-8, while Krista Melish and Lauren Trapani fell 4-8 at No. 3 doubles.

All six singles decisions were decided in straight sets.

The Tigers continue tomorrow at the Lee College Spring Four Way with a pair of matches.  Trinity takes on hosting Lee College in the morning, followed by an afternoon match against Tarleton State.
