Tigers Snap Three-Game Slide With Win Over Bearcats

San Antonio - Trinity's women's tennis team snapped its three-match losing streak with an 8-1 win over Willamette University on Tuesday afternoon.

Trinity (8-8) won five out of six singles matches after sweeping the doubles matches.  The win improves Trinity's home record to 8-0 this season.

Alicia Hunt won for the sixth straight time in singles play, and for the first time this season at No. 1 singles.  She is 8-6 in singles this season, and after also winning at No. 1 doubles, she improves to 10-5 in doubles.  Her doubles partner Renae Wright boosted her career doubles record to 15-5.

Melissa Weinnig also won in both singles and doubles, as did Heather Naeher.  Weinnig is now 12-4 in singles play in her career.

Trinity will face four of the top Division III women's tennis programs in the nation over the next week, hosting the Fab Five Women's Tennis Tournament.  The Tigers take on Williams College on Thursday afternoon to open the tournament action.  Trinity and Williams are joined by Washington & Lee University, Gustavus Adolphus College, and four-time defending national champion Emory University.
