Trinity Defeats Tournament Host Lee College

 

Baytown, Texas - The Tiger women's tennis team won a 5-4 match over Lee College at the Lee Rebel Invitational on Saturday morning.

Trinity (1-1) lost to Tarleton State University yesterday, but bounced back with an impressive win today.  The Tigers fell behind early after winning just once in doubles action, but rallied with four singles victories to clinch the overall win.

Megan Jackson and Melissa Weinnig were both double winners on Saturday, taking wins in both singles and doubles.  Jackson and Weinnig won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles, then Jackson went on to take a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles.  In the fifth singles position, Weinnig won 7-6, 6-2.

Kassie Seger won for the second time in singles to open the season, taking a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 singles.  Katie Griffith came from behind for a 2-6, 7-5, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles.

Trinity will make a short trip to St. Edward's University next Friday, then will host the University of Incarnate Word on Saturday afternoon.
