Trinity Finishes Road Trip With Shutout Loss

Claremont, California - The ninth-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens blanked No. 17 Trinity 9-0 late Sunday, in the Tigers’ final match of their California trip.

Trinity’s Katy Poettcker lost 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1 singles to the Sagehens Siobhan Finicane, the 2008 NCAA Division III champion. Poettcker won two of three matches over the weekend.

The Tigers (3-5) opened last Friday with a 5-1 victory over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, in a match played until decision. The match was delayed by rain. Redlands, ranked No. 14, beat the Tigers 6-3 on Saturday.

Trinity returns home Friday, March 20, to host Tyler Junior College at 3 p.m. at Delavan Tennis Stadium. Tyler J.C. is ranked No. 3 in the junior/community college rankings. The 10th-ranked Tiger men (5-6) also will host Tyler J.C., ranked No. 2, at 3 p.m. on March 20.
