Tiger Women Blank Schreiner Saturday

 

San Antonio - Trinity's women's tennis team earned a 9-0 win over Schreiner University on Saturday afternoon, playing in the team's first Division III match of the season.

Trinity (2-3) swept through the doubles competition with scores of 8-0, 8-0, and 8-2, then took all six singles contests in straight sets.

Katy Poettcker and Erin Jamison teamed up to win No. 1 doubles 8-0, then Poettcker won 6-0, 6-0 at the top singles spot.  Jamison took the No. 3 singles match 6-0, 6-1. 

Kassie Seger and Melissa Weinnig were both double winners on the day.  Seger won No. 6 singles 6-0, 6-0, and teaming up with Kelsie Lawson for an 8-0 doubles win.  Weinnig and Nicole Remling won 8-2 in No. 3 doubles, then Weinnig took No. 5 singles 6-0, 6-0.

Trinity returns to action next weekend, taking on three nationally-ranked teams on its annual road trip to California.  The Tigers will face Claremont College, the University of Redlands, and Pomona-Pitzer College during the important weekend.
