Trinity Loses Second Straight Match

 

San Antonio - The Tiger women's tennis team lost for the second straight time on Saturday afternoon, losing an 8-1 match to the University of Incarnate Word.

Trinity (1-3) fell behind early as Incarnate Word swept all three doubles matches by 8-2 scores.  In singles, Trinity managed one three-set win, but three other matches went to three sets and were won by UIW.

Katy Poettcker took a 7-5, 3-6, 10-8 win at No. 1 singles, but Katie Griffith - Trinity's lone singles winner yesterday at St. Edward's - fell in a 3-6, 6-1, 5-7 contest at No. 2 singles. 

Melissa Weinnig and Kassie Seger were also edged in three-set matches at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.  Weinnig lost 1-6, 7-5, 7-10 at No. 5, while Seger fell 0-6, 6-2, 5-10 in the sixth position.

Trinity will travel to Texas State University next Saturday, then will return home on February 28 to face Schreiner University.  The Tigers will then play three road matches in California against key regional opponents.
