Austin, Texas - The Tiger baseball
team lost to Concordia (TX) University 6-9 on Tuesday night at Keller-Fasholz
Field, snapping a two-game win streak.
Trinity (11-6) fell behind early after a
two-run homer by Concordia in the bottom of the first inning. The
Tigers came back, though, with a single run in the third, followed by
three runs total in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 4-2 lead.
Concordia then exploded for a seven-run
inning, taking control of the game. Trinity added two runs in the
eighth, but despite bringing the tying run to the plate in the ninth,
the team couldn't extend the game.
Adam Frey (1-2) was charged with the loss,
giving up eight runs on seven hits through 5.2 innings of work.
John Allen finished off the game, allowing one unearned run on six hits.
Frey also struck out seven hitters.
Johnny Baugus and Will Becker had two hits
each for the Tiger offense, and Becker also led the team with two runs
scored. Andreas Verrios and Zach Fregosi were both 1-3 with one
run and one RBI each.
Trinity returns home this weekend to take
on Southwestern University in a two-game Southern Collegiate Athletic
Conference series. The teams will play at 1:00 p.m. on both
Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
