Tigers Beat Concordia for Sixth Straight Win

San Antonio - The Trinity baseball team secured its sixth straight win by defeating Concordia (NE) University 12-3 on Thursday night at E.M. Stevens Field.

Trinity (8-4) scored a pair of runs in the first inning, and then broke the game wide open with a six-run second.  The Tigers totaled four more runs in the next two innings to finish off their scoring for the night.  Concordia had a three-run seventh inning to prevent Trinity's fourth straight shutout.

Johnny Baugus was 2-3 with three runs scored in the game, while Blake Holman finished 1-3 with two runs and two RBI.  Bobby Zabor and J.B. Sowyrda also recorded two RBI in the game.

Starter Adam Frey (1-1) was credited with the win, tossing five shutout innings before leaving the game with a 12-0 lead.  Frey struck out 10 hitters in the five innings, allowing just one hit.

Willie Bush had a two-run single in the seventh inning for Concordia, keeping the visitors from being shut out.  Brett Stewart was charged with the loss for the Bulldogs.

Trinity will face Franklin & Marshall University in a three-game series over the weekend.  The teams open with a doubleheader at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, followed by a single game at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday.
