San Antonio - The Tiger baseball
team finished Saturday with a doubleheader split on Saturday afternoon,
as Franklin & Marshall won game two by the final of 7-5.
Trinity (9-5) took an early 2-0 lead,
sparked by a leadoff homer from Johnny Baugus - his third of the year -
but the Diplomats responded with a three-run second inning to take the
lead.
Will Becker hit his third homer of the year
in the bottom of the inning - a 400-foot shot to straightaway center -
tying the game at 3-3 after two innings.
Franklin & Marshall took the lead for good
with two unearned runs in the sixth, followed by a two-run double in the
seventh that made it 7-3. Trinity answered with two runs in the
bottom of the seventh, but could not manage any more in the final two
innings.
Becker finished 2-4 with three RBI in the
game, cracking a two-run double to go with his solo homer. Blake
Holman also had two hits in the game, and Baugus finished 1-3 in game
two.
Four Diplomats players finished with
multi-hit games, led by a three-hit game from Dan Hanecak.
Trinity and Franklin & Marshall will
conclude the three-game series on Sunday afternoon, beginning at 1:00
p.m. The Tigers will play their fourth game in three days when
they host UW-Stout at 7:00 p.m. on Monday night.
