Huggins Misses Historic No-Hitter, as Tigers Record Second Straight Shutout

San Antonio - Chuck Huggins pitched 6.1 innings of no-hit baseball in a 21-0 win, narrowly missing a chance for Trinity to have back-to-back no-hitters against Hendrix College on Saturday.

Trinity (6-4, 3-2) starters Brian Oates and Chuck Huggins combined to allow one hit over 14 innings in today's doubleheader.  Huggins finished the game, which was shortened to just seven innings because of a run-rule, allowing one hit and striking out 10 batters in the game.

The Tiger offense scored at least four runs in each of the first four innings to open the game, jumping out to a 20-0 lead after four.

J.B. Sowyrda and Jordan Pennington tallied four hits each in the game.  Pennington was 4-5 with two runs and five RBI in the game, knocking two doubles.  Sowyrda was a triple away from hitting for the cycle, hitting two doubles and a homer in the game.  He finished 4-4 with four runs and six RBI in the game.

Ryan Cavan, who had two hits in the opening game, finished game two 3-3 with four runs scored.  He added another double and triple in game two, giving him two of each for the day.

Bobby Zabor was 1-1 with three runs and three RBI, drawing two walks to reach base in all three of his plate appearances.

Will Becker and Nick Vera also hit homers for the Tigers, with Becker finishing 1-3 with four RBI and Vera going 2-3 with two runs scored.

Trinity and Hendrix will conclude their three-game SCAC weekend series with a single game tomorrow afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
