Bignall Secures Third Straight Shutout for Tiger Baseball Team

San Antonio - Tiger pitcher Drew Bignall threw a two-hit shutout in a 10-0 win over Hendrix College, giving the baseball team a third straight shutout in the three-game SCAC weekend series.

Trinity (7-4, 4-2) won 4-0 and 21-0 in yesterday's doubleheader, as the pitching staff allowed just one hit in the two games.  Brian Oates threw a seven-inning no-hitter, while Chuck Huggins took a no-hitter into the seventh inning.

In today's game, Bignall gave up a hit in the first inning, but then held the Warriors hitless until the eighth inning.  He struck out nine batters and allowed just four total baserunners (one hit batter and one error, in addition to the two hits) in the game.

Nick Vera was 4-5 with two RBI and four runs scored, also swiping two bases.  Vera nearly hit his third homer of the season, as well as hitting two balls off the fence for a pair of doubles.

Will Becker finished 2-2 with two runs scored, Johnny Baugus was 1-3 with two RBI, and three other players had multi-hit games.  Ryan Cavan and Blake Holman were both 2-5, while Bobby Zabor was 2-4.  Zabor also had two runs, while Holman knocked in two runs.

Trinity will next take on Concordia (NE) University on Thursday evening at E.M. Stevens Field.
