Conway, Arkansas - Trinity's
baseball team defeated Hendrix 13-1 to begin a three-game SCAC weekend,
and pull into a tie for first place in the SCAC West Division.
Trinity (24-9, 11-4) fell behind 1-0 early,
but tied the game through three innings. In the fifth, the Tigers
used an eight-run inning to take command of the game for good.
After a three-run eighth for Trinity, as well a scoreless bottom half of
the inning, the game was ended because of a run-rule.
Johnny Baugus led the team with four runs
and a 3-5 day at the plate, while Bobby Zabor's three RBI were tops on
the team.
Britton Horn earned the complete-game
victory to improve to 3-1 this season. Horn allowed just one
unearned run on six hits, striking out two and allowing just one walk.
Blake Holman finished 2-4 with two runs and
two RBI, while Will Becker also scored twice and drove in two additional
runs.
Ricky Welch was 2-4 with two runs, while
Ryan Cavan and Nick Vera were both 2-5 on the afternoon J.B.
Sowyrda added a pair of RBI for the Tigers as well.
Trinity will face Rhodes College later this
afternoon to conclude their SCAC regular season series. The game
will be played at Hendrix. Tomorrow, the Tigers finish off the
weekend with the series finale against Hendrix.
