Trinity Falls to Millsaps in SCAC Opener

San Antonio - In its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference opener, Trinity's baseball team lost 3-9 to Millsaps College on Saturday afternoon.

Trinity (2-3, 0-1) fell behind quickly in the game, giving up all nine runs in the first three innings.  The game was the first of a Saturday afternoon doubleheader.

John Fox, the Millsaps starter, had a no-hitter through 6.2 innings, but Will Becker broke it up with a single through the left side.  Prior to Becker's at-bat, Blake Holman drew a walk to lead off the inning.  Nick Vera broke up the shutout with a three-run homer after Fox was relieved.

Adam Frey (0-1)  was charged with the loss, and Jon Allen struck out six hitters over the final 5.1 innings of play.  Allen allowed just two runs - one earned - on eight hits.

Jason Hadley was 2-5 with three runs scored for Millsaps, while four other hitters recorded multi-hit games.  Justin Carter, Garner Wetzel, and Scott King all finished with two hits and two RBI for the Majors.

Trinity and Millsaps will meet in the second game of the doubleheader this afternoon, followed by the series finale tomorrow afternoon at E.M. Stevens Field.
