San Antonio - Trinity lost the
second game of today's SCAC doubleheader with Millsaps College by the
final of 9-4, despite holding an early lead.
Trinity (2-4, 0-2) took a 3-2 lead after
two innings when senior Johnny Baugus hit a three-run homer to left
field - the first of his Tiger baseball career.
Millsaps, however, answered with a
three-run inning of its own to pull ahead 5-3, and then added another
run in the fourth for a 6-3 advantage. The Tigers pushed its final
run across when Bobby Zabor singled in Baugus with two outs in the
inning.
The Majors added single runs in the
seventh, eighth, and ninth innings for the final score. Millsaps
hammered out 13 hits in the game, and the Tigers committed five errors.
Zabor finished 2-5 with one RBI, while
Baugus was 1-3 with two runs and three RBI.
Chuck Huggins (1-1) was charged with the
loss for the Tigers. Ryan Hopkins struck out four hitters in three
innings.
Justin Carter finished 4-6 with two runs
and one RBI for the Majors, while Hunter Abrams was 3-5 and knocked in
three runs. Garner Wetzel was 2-4 with two runs and two RBI as
well.
Trinity and Millsaps conclude the SCAC
weekend series with a single game tomorrow afternoon.
