Jackson, Mississippi - The Trinity
baseball team was unable to overcome an eight-run inning by Millsaps
College on Saturday afternoon, losing 7-12 in Southern Collegiate
Athletic Conference action.
Trinity (21-8, 9-4) cut the lead to just
one run in the third (2-1), but the Majors answered with an eight-run
inning to take command of the game. The Tigers continued to chip
away at the lead, but Millsaps added a pair of insurance runs to ensure
the win.
Nick Vera was 3-4 with three runs and three
RBI for the Tigers, cracking two homers and a double in the game.
Four other Tiger players finished with multi-hit games, including Stosh
Hoover and Jordan Pennington. In addition to a pair of hits,
Johnny Baugus and Will Becker also drove in one run each.
John Allen pitched the final 3.2 innings
without allowing a run, giving up four hits and recording one strikeout.
The Tigers and Majors will conclude their
regular season series with a single game tomorrow afternoon.
Millsaps clinched the season series with today's win.
