Millsaps Downs Trinity to Clinch Season Series

Jackson, Mississippi - The Trinity baseball team was unable to overcome an eight-run inning by Millsaps College on Saturday afternoon, losing 7-12 in Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference action.

Trinity (21-8, 9-4) cut the lead to just one run in the third (2-1), but the Majors answered with an eight-run inning to take command of the game.  The Tigers continued to chip away at the lead, but Millsaps added a pair of insurance runs to ensure the win.

Nick Vera was 3-4 with three runs and three RBI for the Tigers, cracking two homers and a double in the game.  Four other Tiger players finished with multi-hit games, including Stosh Hoover and Jordan Pennington.  In addition to a pair of hits, Johnny Baugus and Will Becker also drove in one run each.

John Allen pitched the final 3.2 innings without allowing a run, giving up four hits and recording one strikeout.

The Tigers and Majors will conclude their regular season series with a single game tomorrow afternoon.  Millsaps clinched the season series with today's win.
