Tigers Erase Four-Run Deficit to Defeat Millsaps Sunday

Jackson, Mississippi - Trinity's baseball team erased an early four-run lead and scored eight unanswered runs to defeat Millsaps College 8-4 on Sunday afternoon.

Trinity (22-8, 10-4) fell behind early after a grand slam in the bottom of the third by the Majors, but answered back with eight straight runs over the next three innings to take the lead.

The comeback featured three key hits by the Tigers, including a pair of two-run homers from Ryan Cavan and Blake Holman.  In addition to those hits, Nick Vera also had a two-run double to open the Tiger scoring.

Vera finished 3-5 with two RBI and one run scored, while Holman and Cavan were both 2-4 with two runs and two RBI in the game.  Johnny Baugus was 2-5 with one run scored.

Chuck Huggins (5-1) earned the win, allowing four runs on six hits through 6.1 innings of work, striking out five batters.  Adam Frey closed the game with four strikeouts over the final 2.2 innings, allowing just three hits.

Trinity returns home on Wednesday afternoon in a single game against McMurry University at 2:00 p.m.  Next weekend, the Tigers will travel to finish the team's SCAC series with both Rhodes and Hendrix.  The team will take on Rhodes on Friday, followed by games against Hendrix on Saturday and Sunday.
