San Antonio - Three Tiger pitchers
combined to throw a five-hit shutout on Wednesday afternoon, leading the
team to a 12-0 win over McMurry University.
Trinity (23-9) scored in each of the final
four innings on offense, including a four-run eighth inning. The
Tigers opened the scoring with a three-run second inning.
Adam Frey allowed four hits and recorded
eight strikeouts in six innings to start the game, improving to 3-2 on
the season. Jonathan Scudder struck out three hitters and allowed
one hit in two innings, while Britton Horn finished off the game without
allowing a hit in the ninth.
J.B. Sowyrda led Trinity with four hits and
four runs in the game, as well as recording two stolen bases and one
RBI. Nick Vera was 2-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Johnny
Baugus also finished 2-4 for the Tigers.
Ryan Cavan, who had been in a slump the
past few games, was 3-6 with three RBI - including an RBI double in the
ninth inning. Jordan Pennington and Ricky Welch both scored two
runs in the game.
Trinity will be on the road for three
Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference games this weekend. On
Friday, Trinity concludes its season series with Rhodes at 7:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday will be the final two games in the season series
against Hendrix.
