Trinity Caps Weekend Sweep With Win on Sunday

Sherman, Texas - The Tiger baseball team finished off a four-game weekend sweep at Austin College on Sunday afternoon, winning 8-1 in the series finale.

Trinity (22-8, 10-2) takes over sole possession of first place in the SCAC West Division with the strong weekend, and also became the first team to qualify for the SCAC Divisional Playoffs, held in Millington, Tennessee April 18-20.

The Tigers, as they did all weekend, used a multi-run inning to pull out in front of Sunday's game, scoring six runs in the third to take a 6-0 lead.  Austin College finally got on the board in the fourth, but would score no more as three Tiger pitchers held the home team to just five hits in the game.

Zach Bukowski went 3.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and striking out three batters.  Britton Horn (1-0) earned the win with 4.2 innings of work in relief, giving up just one hit.  Zach Fregosi, who had a day off from his catching duties, pitched the ninth inning for the Tigers.  He gave up one hit, but struck out two batters to finish off the game.

Kyle Felix continued his red-hot series, collecting three hits and driving in two more runs.  Kevin Calbick finished 3-5 with three RBI and a run scored, while Evan Jones had two hits and two runs scored.  John Paillet was 2-4 with two runs as well.

Trinity will travel to Seguin, Texas, on Tuesday afternoon to face Texas Lutheran University, then will return home on Wednesday night against Schreiner University.
