Conway, Arkansas - The Tiger
baseball team was forced to settle for a split of a Saturday
doubleheader in SCAC play, as Hendrix took the day's finale by the final
of 10-6.
Trinity (10-7, 2-1) was never able to fully
recover from a six-run fist inning by the Hendrix offense in this game.
The Tigers did respond with a run in the second, but Hendrix pushed the
lead right back to six with another run in its half of the second
inning.
A five-run fourth inning put Trinity back
into the game, but the team still trailed by a run. Just as
quickly as the Tigers were able to claw back into it, Hendrix pushed
across two more runs to regain control with a 9-6 advantage.
Hendrix then added an insurance run in the sixth to complete the
scoring.
Tiger starter Zach Bukowski (1-1) was
chased from the game in the first inning, giving up six runs on four
hits in the opening frame. Britton Horn struck out a pair of
batters in relief, throwing 4.1 innings and giving up three earned runs.
Mike Panozzo threw the final inning for Trinity.
Evan Jones went 2-4 with two runs scored,
cracking his sixth double of the season. Dillan Early went 1-3
with three RBI as well. Kyle Felix hit his third home run of the
season - all of which have come in the past five games.
Trinity and Hendrix will wrap up the
four-game weekend series with a single game on Sunday at 12:00 p.m.
Trinity returns home on Monday for the start of seven straight home
games next week.
