San Antonio - Trinity's baseball
team opened up a Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader
with a 5-3 win on Saturday afternoon, pushing the team's conference
winning streak to nine games.
Trinity (26-10, 12-2) erased a 2-0 deficit
with a three-run fourth inning to take the lead for good. The
Tigers added single runs in the fifth and sixth to add to the lead,
which turned out to be important after Milllsaps scored a run in the
seventh that would have tied the game otherwise.
Jeff Claydon went 2-3 with two runs and two
RBI, hitting his fourth homer of the season to lead off the sixth
inning. Kevin Calbick also had two hits, as did John Paillet.
Evan Bronson (6-3) struck out seven batters
in seven innings, giving up just three runs on eight hits to the
Millsaps offense. It was the third complete game of the season for
Bronson as well.
Trinity and Millsaps will finish the
Saturday doubleheader this afternoon, then will finish the weekend
series with a single game on Sunday afternoon.
