San Antonio - Trinity's baseball
team erased a six-run deficit late in the game to complete a 9-8
come-from-behind victory over McMurry on Tuesday afternoon.
Trinity (18-8) improved its winning streak
to four games with the win, and evened its series record with McMurry to
6-6 under Head Coach Tim Scannell.
The Tigers tied the game with a run in the
bottom of the first, but McMurry rattled off three runs in the third to
take the lead once again. After another single run in the fourth
for Trinity, McMurry posted a four-run sixth to go up 8-2 - seemingly
assuming full control of the game with just three innings to play.
In the seventh, Trinity's offense finally
got going to the tune of four runs on five hits - all singles to chip
away at the lead run by run. The Tigers cut the lead to just two
in the inning, then came back in the eighth with more offense.
Steven Ramos had a pinch-hit RBI single to
make it 8-7, then Kevin Jackson singled to left field to tie the game.
Jeff Claydon then singled to center to drive in Ramos with the
game-winner.
Brian Oates (3-1) came on in the eighth to
earn the victory for the Tigers, while Evan Bronson recorded his second
save by finishing off McMurry in the ninth.
Jackson finished 2-3 with two runs and two
RBI in the game, while Evan Jones had two hits and two RBI as well.
Dillan Early was 2-3 with two runs scored and one RBI, while Claydon
went 2-5 on the day.
Trinity used seven pitchers in the game,
all pitching less than three innings and most just throwing one inning
of work in the game.
Trinity will open up a four-game SCAC
series with Austin College next weekend, matching up the two teams tied
for the early lead in the SCAC West Division standings.
