Kerrville, Texas - Trinity's
baseball team won its fourth consecutive game on Tuesday afternoon,
beating Schreiner University 15-4.
Trinity (5-3) jumped out to a 12-0 lead
after three innings, including a pair of five-run innings in the second
and third. After Schreiner scored two unearned runs in the bottom
of the third, both teams scored single runs in the fifth and sixth.
The Tigers finished off the scoring with a run in the seventh inning,
and out-hit Schreiner 18-6 in the game.
Zach Bukowski (1-0) earned the victory by
pitching five runs for the Tigers, striking out three batters and
allowing just two earned runs on four hits. Mike Hunter and Ryan
Tamez combined for four shutout innings to finish off the game, striking
out a total of five batters.
Stosh Hoover tied his career-high with
three runs scored, doing so for the third straight game on Tuesday.
Hoover also set a new career mark with four RBI and tied his personal
best with two doubles in the game.
Evan Jones, recently selected as the SCAC
Offensive Player of the Week, finished 2-4 with two RBI and a run
scored. Jeff Claydon tied his career high with three runs as well,
as did Zach Fregosi, who was 2-3 on the day.
Dillan Early and Kyle Felix - both
first-year players - finished with three hits each in the game.
Early had a double and two RBI, while Felix cracked two doubles and
drove in three runs.
Trinity returns home on Sunday afternoon,
facing off against Huston-Tillotson University at 2:00 p.m. The
Tigers will host Hardin-Simmons University next Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.,
and then play DeSales University on Friday and Saturday.
