| Houston, Texas
- Trinity's softball team was swept in a season-opening doubleheader
at Houston Baptist University on Wednesday afternoon, losing 8-0 in both
games. Trinity (0-2) was held without a hit
in the opening game, but finished with five hits in game two. The
Tigers gave up seven runs in the first two innings of the first game -
including a first-inning home run. In game two, the teams played
three scoreless innings before HBU managed a run. Heading into the
fifth, Trinity only trailed 2-0, but a six-run inning ended the
doubleheader.
Sophomore Helen Thompson (0-2) made her Tiger
debut, pitching both ends of the doubleheader.
Caitlin Richards finished 1-3 for the day, hitting
one of Trinity's two doubles on the afternoon in game two. She
also drew two walks in the two games. Kate Wright was 1-4 with the
other extra-base hit.
Trinity will return to action this weekend at the
University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Tigers will make their home
debut against UMHB on March 1. |
