- Trinity finished off the
LeTourneau Tournament with a 9-1 loss to Howard Payne University on
Saturday afternoon. Trinity (2-10) fell
behind quickly as Howard Payne plated seven runs in the first inning of
play. The Tigers gave up single runs in the second and third
innings as well, before breaking up the shutout in the top of the fifth.
The Tigers recorded just three total hits in the
game, giving up just five hits to Howard Payne. Trinity's pitchers
allowed eight walks in four innings, though giving HPU numerous free
baserunners.
Lee Smith was 2-2 with a run scored for the
Tigers, while Kate Wright added the team's third hit on a 1-2 day for
her.
Trinity's doubleheader with the University of the
Ozarks - originally scheduled for tomorrow at LeTourneau University -
has been cancelled. The Tigers return to action on Thursday
afternoon against Evangel University in San Antonio. |
