- The Trinity softball team
finished off the first day of action at the LeTourneau Tournament with a
10-1 loss to Schreiner University on Friday evening.
Trinity (2-8) scored just one run on eight hits,
though all eight hits were singles. The Tigers fell behind after a
three-run third inning by Schreiner, and the Mountaineers scored in each
inning after that, ending the game with a run-rule after scoring four
times in the sixth.
Kate Wright and Rachel Garrett cracked two hits
each for the Tigers, and Garrett scored the team's only run, which came
in the top of the sixth inning. Wright drove in the lone run for
Trinity.
Caitlin Richards was 1-3 in the game, giving her
three hits for the day at the tournament. Alexa Calderon was 1-2
for Trinity.
The Tigers will face the University of Texas-Tyler
and Howard Payne University to finish off the tournament tomorrow
afternoon. |
