UT-Tyler Tosses One-Hitter to Beat Trinity

Longview, Texas - The Tiger softball team lost a 9-0 game to the University of Texas-Tyler on Saturday afternoon at the LeTourneau Tournament.

Trinity (2-9) managed just one hit in the game, which was a first-inning single by senior shortstop Jamie Williams.  UT-Tyler dropped five runs in the second inning to break a scoreless tie, then added four runs in the fifth to invoke the run rule.

Williams actually reached base twice, also drawing a walk in the third inning on Saturday.  Kate Wright was 0-2 at the plate, and also started the game for the Tigers.  She gave up five runs on six innings through four innings of work, taking the loss.

Trinity will conclude its part in the tournament with a game against Howard Payne University later this afternoon.  The Tigers return home on Thursday for a doubleheader with Evangel University.  Sunday's doubleheader with the University of the Ozarks was cancelled.
