  Business Administration - B.S. Concentrations
 
 

The Bachelor of Science in Business Adminsitration degree is designed to accommodate those students who want to pursue specialized study in the following areas of concentration: accounting, finance, management, marketing, or international business.

 

 

Accounting

Students choosing this concentration must complete 15 credit hours from the following courses:

Required:

ACCT 3341 - Intermediate Financial Accounting I
ACCT 3342 - Intermediate Financial Accounting II
ACCT 3343 - Income Tax Accounting and Procedure
ACCT 4344 - Auditing
BUSN 3341 - Legal Concepts of Business II

Prospective students should note this concentration only partially satisfies the educational requirements for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in the state of Texas. 

The Department of Business Administration offers a two-semester Master of Science in Accounting degree program.  Upon completeion of the program, the student is awarded the degree of Master of Science in Accounting and is qualified to take the Uniform Certified Public Accountant Examination in the state of Texas.  Students interested in this concentration should review the degree requirements and description for the M.S. in Accounting degree.

 

Finance

Students choosing this concentration must complete 12 credit hours from the following courses:

Required:

FNCE 3352 - Investment Principles and Analysis
FNCE 4351 - Financial Management and Polices

Two of:

ACCT 3341 - Intermediate Financial Accounting I
ACCT 3342 - Intermediate Financial Accounting II
FNCE 3351 - Financial Institutions and Markets
FNCE 3361 - International Finance
FNCE 3353 - Student Managed Fund I

 

Management

Students choosing this concentration must complete 12 credit hours from the following courses:

Required:

MGMT 3361   - International Management
MGMT 3371  - Human Resources Management
MGMT 3372 - Organizational Behavior
MGMT 4371 - Strategic Management

 

Marketing

Students choosing this concentration must complete 12 credit hours from the following courses:

Required:

MKTG 3383 - Marketing and Business Research
MKTG 4381 - Marketing Management

Two of:

MKTG 3361 - International Marketing
MKTG 3381 - Consumer Behavior
MKTG 3382 - Promotion Management

 

 

International Business

Students choosing this concentration must complete each of the following requirements (students should note that coursework taken to complete the international/interdisciplinary and foreign language requirements below does not count toward the 45 semester hours in business courses required for the Bachelor of Science degree.

Three of:

BUSN 3361 - International Business Law
FNCE 3361 - International Finance
MGMT 3361 - International Management
MKTG 3361 - International Marketing

One of:

Completion of at least one semester of study abroad and BUSN 3396 - Internship in International Business

Completion of an approved international internship, or other meaningful international work experience, and the completion of an additional three-hour course from the 3 of listing above

One of:

COMM 3322 -International Communication
ECON 2318 -The World Economy
ECON 3327 -Comparative Economic Systems
ECON 3341 - Economic Development of Mexico
ECON 3342 - Latin American Economic History
ECON 3347 - International Trade
PLSI 3331 - Political Economy of the U.S., Europe, and Japan
PLSI 3342 - International Law
SPCH 3372 - Intercultural Communication
Or another 3-hour, non-business course approved by the International Business Faculty): 

Required:

Completion of a foreign language requirement consisting of two years (14 semester hours) of a foreign language (i.e., those foreign language courses numbered 1401, 1402, 2301, and 2302 or their equivalent).
