Brian Hirsch, Director
Dr. Hirsch a native of south Louisiana with an undergraduate degree in
Zoology from LA Tech University in Ruston. He holds a Masters in
College Counseling and Personnel Administration and a Doctorate in
Higher Education Administration from the University of Southern
Mississippi. Assignments in higher education have included work in
drug education and prevention, residence life, Greek life,
leadership development, student activities, cooperative education,
and career counseling.
Dr. Hirsch believes that the
primary role of the career services is to act as a nexus between
students, prospective employers, faculty, and alumni. Since
information or a lack thereof, is the major challenge in career
decision making, the role of career services is strongly
educational. Career services can be a resource for obtaining
information useful for decision making. Professional staff can
also serve by assisting students and alumni in the development
of career planning, and job seeking skills such as resume
writing. Dr. Hirsch also enjoys the teaching role and has
presented numerous workshops as well as teaching for credit
classes in career development, job seeking skills, and serving
as an instructor for the LSUS first-year orientation class. |
Twyla
Hough, Assistant Director
Ms. Hough graduated from Ball State University with a Master of Arts
in Student Affairs in Administration in Higher Education where she began her
career as a graduate assistant in the university's Career Center.
When Twyla joined Trinity University in 2004 as a Career Advisor,
she became responsible for Career Services publications, marketing
activities, and annual programming. Her duties also include providing students with career
advising, coordinating student workshops and seminars, and writing career-related articles for campus publications.
As Assistant Director she is more directly
involved in fostering contacts with employers, faculty, and alumni.
This is in addition to responsibilities in career advising,
programming, and assessment. Twyla enjoys connecting students and
alumni to resources, both human and informational, that allow for
exploration of career options and strategic pursuit of career goals.
