Career Adviser:
Twyla Hough

|
Twyla graduated in 2004 from Ball State University with a Master of Arts in Student Affairs in Administration in Higher Education. During her studies she served as a graduate assistant in the Career Center and for Project GEAR UP at Ball State University. As an assistant in the Career Center, Twyla had the opportunity to advise students, collaborate on student-oriented programs, facilitate student presentations, and promote programs and services through articles and outreach initiatives. These experiences prepared her to begin a professional career in the area of student affairs.
The same year that Twyla completed her graduate program she was hired as a Career Adviser in Career Services at Trinity University. Since joining |
the Career Services team in June 2004, she is now responsible for Career Services publications, marketing activities, and annual programming. Her duties also include providing students with career-related assistance, coordinating student workshops and seminars, and writing career-related articles for campus publications.
One of the things that Twyla enjoys most about working directly with students is being able to help them find answers to their questions. She loves being in the position to assist individuals in discovering resources that are essential to accomplishing career and educational goals. Even as a graduate student her research often focused on the lack of exposure to resources experienced by certain demographic groups. As a career adviser she believes that it is her obligation to provide students with the resources necessary to identify and work towards their career goals. In reference to her own educational goals, she plans to begin a doctorate degree in the area of higher education within the next two years to increase her value as a resource to students and her impact on higher education. |
