Campus Publications Employment
The Board of Campus Publications hires the top six positions
(editor and managing editor of the Trinitonian, editor and managing
editor of the Mirage, business manager, and advertising director).
Full job descriptions and salary ranges are available. The persons hired for
the top six positions are responsible for the operation of Campus
Publications as a business and a publishing house. Everything from content,
including news and opinion, to the business operations, including advertising
and budget maintenance, is the responsibility of the publications executives.
These key employees report directly to the advisor on a day-to-day basis and
to the Board of Campus Publications at monthly meetings. All positions
receive a stipend.
Applications for the positions hired by the Board should
consist of:
·
A cover letter addressed to the Board of
Campus Publications and stating the position(s) desired and qualifications
and goals for the position(s)
·
A resume with name, address, phone number,
e-mail, GPA, major, related and unrelated experience.
·
Two letters of reference, each addressed to
the Board of Campus Publications and delivered to Katharine Martin via campus
or US mail. (Do not have letters e-mailed.)
·
Samples of work, if applicable.
All application materials are non-returnable. Applicants
for the top six management positions must meet with the advisor prior to the
Board interviews.
Applicants for these top six positions are not required to
have previous experience in Campus Publications, although clearly an
applicant must be able to show he or she is qualified in some way for the
position. Qualifications can include previous experience in related areas,
class work, internships, summer jobs, applicable volunteer work or
participation in organizations, etc. Editors and managers will receive
training from outgoing executives before the end of the spring semester. Some
responsibilities will begin during the summer. Further training with the
advisor will be provided before fall semester begins.
The top managers are responsible for hiring all other
staff members. Recruiting and interviewing begins after spring break. Watch
the Trinitonian for announcements. Job descriptions, salary ranges,
and applications will be available at the Campus Publications information
session in February and upon request.
