Trinity University NMR Site

NMR spectroscopy is one of the most important analytical tools available to the modern chemist, however, the high initial cost of a modern NMR spectrometer and the cost of maintenance and cryogens prevent many two- and four year colleges from using NMR spectroscopy on compounds prepared by their students. With funding from the National Science Foundation, the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation, and Trinity University, the Department of Chemistry at Trinity University students in the San Antonio area will have easy and effective access to a 300 MHz NMR spectrometer for analysis of compounds they have synthesized in experiments at their home institutions. The data will be obtained on the spectrometer which is housed at and maintained by Trinity University and will be made available via the web to students at their home institutions. Using free software from Italy, the data will be processed and analyzed by students who don't have to leave their home institution, or even their home.
