The summer research program provides undergraduates at all levels and highly motivated high school students an opportunity to participate in chemical research. Research is conducted in one the major disciplines of chemistry: analytcial, biochemistry, inorganic, organic and physical chemistry. Each student will work under the close supervision of a chemistry faculty member, and will be involved in a variety of activities that introduce them to the challenges, excitement, and opportunities of careers in the chemical sciences. The program will provide hands-on use of modern chemical instrumentation, opportunities for contributions to publishable research, experience in effective oral and written communication of results, and knowledge of career opportunities through interactions with leaders in chemical and biochemical science.
The summer program is available to any undergraduate student or high school students. Preference is given to qualified Trinity students, but we gladly accept applications from high school students and students from other colleges. Participation in the program includes a stipend, a 1-hour course credit, and the opportunity to live in the Trinity University dorms.
Trinity students should submit the pre-application starting Monday, January 23 and then contact faculty with whom they are interested in working. Final applications will be due by Feb 27. Off-campus students should submit both applications by February 15.
The program will run from May 22, 2006 to July 28, 2006.
