Courses

The Department of Classical Studies at Trinity consists of four separate majors and minors: Ancient Greek, Latin, Classical Languages, and Ancient Mediterranean Studies (AMS).

AMS is our most popular major. This major combines the the history, art, culture, and literature of the ancient world into a cohesive intellectual enterprise. Because of the major's breadth, courses from a variety of departments count towards the AMS major, making it easy to combine the study of the classical world with another major. In fact, over half of our majors graduate with additional degrees in fields such a biology, business, or English, and continue to law schools, medical schools, graduate schools, or careers in business. In addition, we also have a number of students who pursue a major in one or both ancient languages, including a number who have gone on to pursue graduate study in the Classics or Classical Archaeology at such programs as Rutgers, U.C. Berkeley, U.C.L.A., U.S.C., and U.T. Austin.
