Research

Corinne Pache, Associate Professor of Classical Studies, received her B.A. from Hunter College, and her Ph.D. from Harvard University. Her research interests include Greek archaic poetry — especially Homer and the Homeric Hymns — Greek religion and myth, and the modern reception of ancient poetry. Current research projects include A Moment's Ornament: The Poetics of Nympholepsy in Ancient Greece, a study of mythic narratives of goddesses who fall in love with mortal men and the intersection between poetry and cult in ancient Greece, and Odysseys: Nostos and Nostalgia from Homer to Volver, a monograph on the reception of Homer’s Odyssey in the 20th and 21st century.

Teaching

Dr. Pache teaches courses on Greek literature, religion, and history, as well as on the reception of ancient epic in modern literature and film. Recent courses include:
