Movies

Over the years a number of students (and even a few professors) have felt the need to express their love of the ancient world on film; here is a sampling of their handiwork. (Warning! Most of these files are very large and may take a long time to load, depending on the speed of your connection. Most of the films require Quicktime.)

The most ambitious movie made by one of our students was a full-length feature entitled IDES, made by Heath Hamrick ('03). The movie debuted at Trinity on March 24, 2004; see the press release for more details. The link on the right will take you to the trailer.

The trailer for the full, 40 minute version of the Alcestiad, a movie produced and premiered by the classics department in April 2003. Directed by Heath Hamrick '03 as part of a special topics course offered in the department.
John Stillwell hams it up as the Cyclops -- this time with an aria from Handel's Acis and Galatea. (He is accompanied on violin by Dr. Joan Burton.)

Ancient technology at work today! For James Gallagher's Science and Technology class.
The trailer for the 25-minute adaptation of Prometheus Bound, the final project by Heath Hamrick '03 for Tom Jenkins' Greek and Roman Drama Class.
A student-written and directed film for Tom Jenkins' Introductory Latin course -- produced, written, shot, edited and otherwise brought to life by Heath Hamrick. Starring Matthew Litsey and Candice Reed.
A film inspired by Cicero's First Catilinarian, made on a dare by two intermediate Latin students in 2004 (John Haskell '07 and Mark Russell '07). The video can also been seen, in two parts, on YouTube (part one; part two)
