Social Bookmarking: Tag and Share!

So you thought bookmarks were personal, something you stored in your browser? Think again! Tools like CiteULike, Connotea, and Del.icio.us are transforming the way we store and share information by allowing us to share our bookmarks with peers and students alike. This session will show you how to use these tools to share knowledge and discover new and interesting content.

Student Response Systems

Student Response Systems, also knows as Clicker Systems, are a combination of hardware and software that enable students to provide instant feedback to their instructors. Added benefits include creating an interactive learning experience that encourages active learning and the ability to gauge students' understanding of the material presented. Over the course of this semester, we will showcase a number of these systems through vendor demos.

RSS: A Really Simple Solution

Consider this: You have a large number of web logs and web sites relevant to your course that you visit to keep abreast of the latest information. It probably is a time consuming and tedious task to visit each of those sites on a regular basis to acquire that information. Now waht if you could have ifnormation from all those sites and blogs delivered to you, in one catch-all location? That's exactly waht RSS or Real Simply Syndication enables using a type of software called an aggregator. This session will show you how you can use RSS to collect and store information from a variety of sources. We will also discuss how to share all that information with peers and students on your course web site or through Blackboard.

Pachyderm: Create Web-based Learning Experiences Rescheduled!

Pachyderm is an open source authoring environment that allows you to create web-based and multimedia learning experiences. This joint session, conducted in partnership with the Library, will demonstrate Pachyderm's functionality, and explore how it can be best utilized for teaching and learning.

Podcasting 101

Podcast was declared the word of the year by the editors of the New Oxford American Dictionary. Just what however, is a podcast? Where and how do your find them? How can they be used to augment and enhance classroom learning? These are just some of the questions this session will seek to answer. The session will demonstrate the modalities of subscribing to podcasts, the tools required to create podcasts, and conclude with audience discussion and participation on identifying meaningful pedagogical implications that can enhance and complement existing teaching and learning activities.
