James H. Calvert Hall

Calvert Hall is the first-year student residence hall nearest to upper campus (it is nearest to the Coates University Center and the academic buildings). Calvert Hall is on the east side of campus near Mabee Dinning Hall and other first-year residence halls. It is part of the traditional first-year student quad, which also includes Miller, Winn, and Witt Halls. Men are assigned to the first and third floors and women are assigned to the second floor. Calvert is designed with public walkways (room doors open directly to the outside).

Calvert Hall amenities include:
  • A laundry room located on the second floor,
  • Easy access to the microwave in Miller.

Calvert rooms feature:
  • Wood paneling on the walls and blue-toned carpet,
  • Windows with cream colored blinds,
  • Rooms with individual temperature control,
  • Built-in desks, with one small drawer and one file-sized drawer, and two adjustable shelves above each desk,
  • Built-in closets that have sliding doors, each containing four dresser drawers, three adjustable shelves, and a 40" clothes rod with a shelf above it.

Calvert bathrooms feature:
  • A drawer and a towel bar per person, and a large cabinet under each sink,
  • NO door in front of the toilet, however, many residents opt to use a shower rod and curtain in front of the toilet area.
