There are two federal laws
which protect Trinity University students with disabilities from
discrimination: The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section 504 of
the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.These laws function together to provide both
physical and programmatic access to Trinity University
classes and events. Trinity
University is committed
to providing reasonable accommodations to qualified individuals. The
Coordinator of Disability Services for Students will generally investigate
informal ADA
complaints and assist, as requested by the ADA Compliance Officer, in
handling formal complaints.
The following grievance
procedures are in place to assist students should they encounter problems
receiving accommodations at Trinity
University.
Informal Grievance Complaint
The
Coordinator of Disability Services for Students will attempt to resolve
informal complaints through discussion or mediation between the student and
faculty or staff member involved.

Complaint
The
Associate Vice President of Fiscal Affairs at Trinity
University is designated as the ADA
Compliance Officer and will handle formal ADA complaints from students.
Complaints about a
disability-related decision or denial of accommodations by the office of
Disability Services for Students can be directed to the Associate Vice
President of Fiscal Affairs.

Confidentiality will be
maintained to the extent possible in all disability complaint
investigations. Trinity
University prohibits
retaliation against a person filing a complaint of disability discrimination
regardless of the outcome of the initial complaint.
Harassment
Trinity University is
committed to the maintenance of an academic environment free of all forms of
discrimination or coercion that adversely affect the working or learning
environment, and this includes harassment based on disability. Trinity University students are referred to
the University’s policy on harassment. This policy is located in the
