Key goals of the Campaign for Trinity University’s Health Care
Administration program include implementation of strategies for continued
excellence through curricular offerings and faculty development, further
development of the Center for Leadership Development in Health Management, and
the funding of fellowships and other financial aid to students.
“Our desire is to see the program build on its reputation as a national
center for excellence in health care leadership,” Trinity President John R.
Brazil said in announcing the initiative.
Trinity’s Center for Leadership Development in Health Management, launched
three years ago, prepares future leaders for health services administration
with an emphasis on the integration of conceptual and experiential learning.
The program’s Center offers students a real-world approach and thus equips them
with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to be capable managers and
innovators.
“We want to be known nationally as the program that effectively combines
academics with the field of practice,” said Mary E. Stefl, professor and chair
of the health care administration department.

Bob Shaw '69, '72, chair of the campaign steering committee, and Bill Rasco, president of the Greater San Antonio Hospital Council, are all smiles following the announcement of the $3 million health care fundraising initiative. |
Earlier this year, the program was recognized as one of the top programs in
health care management in U.S. News & World Report’s 2008 edition of America’s Best Graduate Schools. Alumni work in 47 states and
six foreign countries, and three of the program’s graduates have been included for
three consecutive years in Modern Healthcare’s annual list of the “100
Most Powerful People in Healthcare.”
Bob Shaw ’69, ’72, executive vice president and chief operating officer at
the Cancer Therapy and Research Center in San Antonio, is chairing the campaign
steering committee. “As a Trinity alumnus, I have a deep personal interest in
the University and when asked to be the chair of this inaugural campaign for
the Health Care Administration program, I accepted without hesitation,” he
said.
